TToT: SOMETIMES YOU NEED A CAST IRON BUNNY

Turns out Duct Tape doesn’t work on everything, sometimes you need to use a cast iron bunny to weigh things down. unnamed My phone wasn’t charging again and it wouldn’t do a thing unless it was taped and weighted down with Mr. Bun Bun here. It didn’t last long but I’m grateful that July is the end of the phone contract … time to get a new phone.

Duct tape is also pretty ineffective on emotional stuff. It’s been a tough week and emotionally I’ve been kinda raw. I’m working on it. I’m grateful for an opportunity to process some of the life junk.

unnamed (2) Sometimes you have to resort to making cookies. Even if you can’t eat them, there is something satisfying about the smell of warm cookies. It can be enough when duct tape just won’t work. These went a really long way; a few went to two friends who I was meeting for breakfast, a few to my buddy who just found out she needs surgery, and a couple to my neighbors. They were oatmeal raisin with walnuts and  candied ginger.

unnamed (3)When all else fails you may need to just stop and smell the flowers or glory in the miracle of life

unnamed (5)These little guys were born a few weeks ago. They are labs and adorable. If puppies and kittens aren’t available there is always the garden to appreciate miraculous growth.

unnamed (1) unnamed (4) Or you may just have to go with the old standby and a nap. This was a glorious nap. We both needed it and I just happened to wake up in time for a selfie… That’s my nose back there.

unnamed (7) …another old standby. unnamed (8)  The girls are pretty cool to have around.

This week I decided to keep the Six Sentence Story link open until Tuesday because last week several people missed the deadline. I dunno if that was wise or not… will reassess.

I also got to do a dry run of the live TToT chat for tomorrow. It’s at 10:30 Saturday a.m. and you can go grab the invite through Facebook… The more the merrier. That Wakefield Doctrine guy is setting it up… rumor has it the English may be represented, if ya know what I mean. Either way I got to meet Val tonight and she was just like she was supposed to be in person! She sounds like I expected and was nice and smiley like I expected … so if ya do nothing else come and meet Val! Hahhahhaha! Poor Val! Sorry, Val! (Not really,) I really did like meeting you!

  1. ugh. Nice meeting you, too. (two). When the going gets tough, the tough get back to basics and that’s what this post is all about. Those puppies are just too sweet and cute and have to bring a smile to your face. See (actually see) you later.

    1. work was wild today. My 11 cancelled but I had a crisis going on and had to leave earlier than expected. I hope it was fun. I finally found out the code around noonish… too late. Hey I got your package! So sweet… doug is lovin the bug! At first he ignored it… well kept trying to but he would look at it from the side of his eye and finally pounced. Thanks so much, Val!

      1. That was quick. I mailed it Thursday. The wings on that bug make a noise I’m expecting whimsical limericks with that silly pen. Hope you get to relax for the rest of the night

    1. good to see you today! Good hair day! I said above that my 11 had cancelled so I hoped to stick around but there was a crisis that I had to get to so I guess it was opportune that 11 cancelled and gave me a bit more time. Sorry couldnt stay…

  3. Duct tape doesn’t work on everything … but it sure works well on a lot of things. 🙂 We’re currently out (and I keep forgetting to buy some). As a result, all sorts of things are falling apart around here. LOL I love your puppy pictures. So adorable – and now I just want to hold one.

    1. good cooking reasons from what I read though. I cook for a community kitchen. I tend to do dinner but our group supplies breakfast and dinner daily. You are excused! lol! Vidchat was short for me…had to get back to work. Emotions are raw… gotta get it together… june is just a tough month I guess… who knew?

  5. I hear that if duct tape isn’t the answer, WD-40 is–though I’m not sure of the usefulness of either with emotional stuff. It was nice to talk with you today. I think I caught most of your sphynx story, but I might have lost a word here and there. I am happy you like Leela, even if she is regarded as ugly by many.

    1. I love Leela…So the study concluded that infants are universally desireable, because of uniform features such as a roundness of face, big eyes etc. … however it was also concluded that even with those features if bald it was not as attractive or “loveable” to the majority… I couldnt disagree more…. I think its her bald that makes her so cute! It was nice to see you in moving real life! Ever so briefly… 🙂

  6. Sorry you’ve been in a funk. Don’t feel the need to answer my email till you’re ready. Glad you have Skip, and cookies and the chickens though how you managed to keep from eating any (cookies), I have no idea. I was out this week…having too much fun with my extreme sports in an extremely out of character experience. And I’m traveling again this week, but I’m going to try to write a little something before I leave.

  7. I’m sorry to hear about the emotional week, but it sounds like you have some great coping skills.
I am sorry that I couldn’t participate in the chat yesterday. I’ll give you a hint as to what hijacked my plans to join in. OOOOOOOHHH, I’m gonna go all Clark on you and give you clues in other people’s posts.
First clue: we have a new cat.

why, yes, I do believe my little thread-jumping mission would be greatly enhanced by an icon of sorts…. doesn’t Doug have a Sherlock Holmes hat?

  8. Duct tape didn’t do it for me, either, but someone sending me a silly chicken meme certainly helped.
I missed the Live TToT. Which means I missed you. Which means I missed out.

  9. Weeeeeeniebutt! Sorry you had a crappy week of emotional things that duct tape couldn’t fix 😦 but PUPPIES! And personally, I vote that six sentence is open until a Tuesday because I can never link up on Thursdays. Also I sorta suck for not doing it yet because BRILLIANT. Also that means I’m the weeeeeeeniebutt. Hugs and love, friend.

  10. I believe bravery is made out of duct tape. Sometimes in hard weeks, that’s all there is. Love all the moments of little things.

  12. First time here, and I learned a lot about you from this one post. Your girls! LOL! That dog of your photo is priceless. I can’t see your nose in the background, but his sure is cute. Just want to snuggle up to him. As or duct tape, my daughters made me a flower, wallet, book cover and Christmas tree with it this year, so it works some wonders.

  13. There’s something about playing with puppies or babies when life is rough. It usually doesn’t solve any problems but it certainly seems to help put things in perspective. Hope you enjoyed the puppies!

BTW, what kind is your dog? A doodle by chance? It’s so cute!

  14. Waaaiiiiiit…so you’re saying you were at the Live TToT??? And I missed you? Dammit!
Duct tape was my Grandfather’s go-to fix-it tool. Not that he wasn’t perfectly capable with other tools, but duct tape had a special place in his heart, I guess. Sigh. I miss him.
Sorry your week had crap. But the simple comforts you have here would do it for me…hope they did for you!

    1. And phones…finally getting the new one at the contract flip date? Amazing. I was so overdue and getting that new one (free, can I say?) was such a welcome relief! I had to position my old one just so to get it to charge at all.
