TToT : Introducing Lord Throckmorton III

I am going to open by saying thanks to someone for helping me see that somewhere along the past few months I gave up. Not everything , but none the less, enough to lose my grip on the stuff that I must keep a tight grasp upon. If I don’t hang tight, I am destined to find myself in a really dark place.  I don’t know if I can pull out much yet but, I am committing to a regroup this week. I mention it because if I put it out here, I will be somehow more accountable to myself. Nuff said.

I saw lots of wildlife this week. A few adolescent bears. A ton of bunnies. Flocks of turkeys and a fox.

None of the girls met their Maker this week.unnamed (19)

Hey REMEMBER! download (4)If you want in on the contest... This is the last week. It’s over on the 20th. That is next Monday! It will be here and I will be getting emails saying “OY! I meant to enter but I ran out of time!” Don’t let that happen!

Things continue to ripen.unnamed (36) unnamed (12) Something really special came my way this week. A really special surprise. unnamed (38) I feel like I should build a castle around it and as Clark says change his name to Throckmorton III, just to make him live up to the regal of this painting! If you have any doubt of the quality of the likeness…This is the photo and painting side by side…unnamed (39)pretty cool huh?

My neice and her partner and their daughter came up for a visit and we went to a local gallery where we found this cool painting… unnamed (35)   Dad is the artist that painted Douglas’ portrait. Here is the super kid after the “strings”were eliminated from the photo.unnamed (40) Super Girl!

download (2)Remember SSS is open until Tuesday. Last week this really worked out for a few people. Six Sentence Stories seems to be moving ahead and becoming a source of some later week fun. Come on back for next week’s cue on Sunday. If you still want to do this week the cue was pound… head over and see a few examples if you’d like. I’m having more fun than I expected with this!

Hey, I was wondering if you could do me a favor??? Off the top of your head what are one or two things that you always wanted to do but haven’t or that you love doing all the time and wish other people could share in it ? It doesn’t have to be visit Iceland… It can be fly a kite on a beach… but whatever you do… don’t let it be “I will be back after I think about it” cuz ya most likely won’t … and I need some help… really…. just off the top of your head … no biggie… Thanks REALLY, and have a good weekend!

  1. Hope you’re doing OK!
And, yes, the Bear in the picture is cute. The young ones are pretty adorable.
    Blessing and Bear hugs.

      1. I’m still trying to figure out which is the photo of Douglas, and which is the painting. (That’s the trouble with being a Bear — we can’t see very well.) I think the photo is the one on the . . . hmmmm. Both are very good. Actually, the painting is the one on the right. Doug never looks that good in real life, despite the best plans and intentions of the photographer.

  2. Making ice cream. And eating it.
I wish in knew how to repair things like plumbing and electrical stuff. Just fairly minor things, but I hate calling the repair person.

    1. Thanks Sarah! Perfect answers! What kind of ice cream? Ever made pistachio? Anyway… I would love to repair plumbing better … like I can do a washer but thats about it… or fix a leak…not real plumbing… Im wayyyyy to chicken to deal with electricity!

  3. NOTFRIST!

But I’m glad you’re committing to regrouping. I’m committing to absolutely no such thing.
The painting of Doug is incredible, but I like the flying superkid a bit more 😉

I like hunting for shells at the beach, and wish I had more time to do it, and I think everyone should have time to do it. I wish everyone could know how wonderful it is to be able to write poetry. And I wish I could speak French fluently.

    1. NOTEVENSECROND! I must regroup or Im goin down… not pretty… Doug’s painting is amazing… well, Andy’s painting of Doug is amazing anyway… I suspect Doug’s painting is lacking somewhat without opposable digits. Thanks for the ideas… I really appreciate the thoughts… I thought about a language but I am so bad at them… the only pieces I ever remember are the swears!

  4. I’m trying to come up with a regrouping cheer, but, like the 6 sentences, it just ain’t comin’. I’ll ponder a bit.
I like to explore someplace new (to me). I especially love to find odd little-known places. It doesn’t have to be far away. I also like to just be outside, listening to nature and feeling the sun (or the rain) on me.
I want to take classes in plumbing, electricity, and car mechanics. I know nothing, and I want to know basic things to be able to do things around the house. (Did you ever see the show 7th Heaven? The mom always learned a new skill when she was pregnant. Plumbing was one thing. I think that’s where I got the idea.)

    1. I WOULD like to learn a new skill or fifteen… Travel is also up there… even short travel…day travel… I appreciate any efforts at cheers! Thanks , Christine.

  5. Bear, as in, you open your front door and there’s a bear in your yard? Is that SAFE?
I’ve always wanted to play the piano, to be one of those people who could just sit down and play by ear. I wish I could do more home repair stuff (seems like a popular answer); I know just enough to be dangerous.
I love to bake. Cookies, bread, all bad for your stuff that’s delicious. I love to find interesting little places to visit, preferably free or really cheap, especially when we go on a vacation (Christine and I have this in common).

    1. Whether the Bear is “SAFE” depends on a number of variables, dyannedillion. Probably the most important is how comfortable you are with the Bear. If you’re anxious, the Bear will pick up on that, and get anxious, and agitated, and . . . well, that’s not a good thing. Or if the Bear seems already agitated, I wouldn’t invite it in. On the other hand, if you open the front door, and the Bear seems calm, you could say something like, “Would you care to come in for a spot of tea?” The Bear will likely take off. Because it doesn’t know what tea is. In all likelihood.

      1. Of course, even better, have Douglas come to the door with you. But keep him on a leash; you don’t want Doug chasing the Bear all around the neighbourhood.
Someone might end up shooting the Bear, or calling the police to shoot the Bear, or (God forbid) missing the Bear and hitting Douglas. That would be most unsatisfactory!

Now, aren’t you glad you asked about Bears and safety?
        No?
        Somehow, I didn’t think so.

  6. I’m glad you are committing to hang on and regroup. You know that little starfish. A big fish might bite off a limb, but he regenerates. Like you. I’ve always wanted to learn how to make those pretty colored French macaroons. My daughter bought some for the shower she is throwing and there is something so delicately pretty about them.

    1. They are basically fancy schmancy meringues. I am committing to the search and to at least TRY to regroup. Thanks Val! I was just looking at that little starfish this week.

  7. OK, trying to not think too hard about your question. Some of the things I really enjoy, I don’t get a chance to do often. I really like snorkeling. I’m not a big fan of swimming, but I love the water. Hikes to waterfalls, watching the waves at the ocean, kayaking, white-water rafting. . . I don’t see a lot of water around here, but I enjoy water when I am around it. OH–but something I love, and can do anywhere, is family history research! There is something so cool about learning about people I am connected to, but have gone before me. Hope that helps.

    1. I love the water but not swimming at all! As a matter of fact IN the water I am pretty phobic… weird huh? Thanks for these answers… I like them… I havent done the family research but my nephew keeps asking for some help with it …so I may have to give it a try.

      1. “Let’s start from the very beginning, a very good place to start. . . ” If you do want family history help, you can email me whatever information (names, dates, places) you have of your parents and/or grandparents, and I can show you how to go from there. OR, you can explore on your own at familysearch.org using that same information.

  8. Something I’ve always wanted to do but never done – kite-boarding! I see them out here early in the spring and late in the fall and it looks like such and exhilarating fun sport.

That painting of Doug is awesome.

  9. Surprisingly tough! …another road trip is definitely something I am set on doing (thinking about Lebanon, Kansas (the center of the country). Travel seems to be the manifestation of ‘that would be fun’…. not so much on learning new things, other than to (learn) to write better/increase my skill at the typed word.
(Vanessa, above is clearly demented… being blown by the wind to dangerous heights over water, with lumber strapped to the feet… lol)
…as opposed to learning to fix electric cars or baking French cookies!

    1. So I just looked that up… Is that the only reason to go there? I think of road trip too… I just dont have the vehicle for it. I suspect I will be taking a bus home.

      Like

      1. (should clarify ‘road trip’ planes are allowed, to get in the vicinity of the target destination)… no, won’t drive to Kansas! but fly into someplace and then drive to target… ‘touch hands’ (old form of selfie… just enough time to document actual visit) then onwards…

      2. Did you ever see the movie Michael? I have often though of just touring the stupid places in America… you know… the biggest chair in Gardener etc…. I think Dyanne would have to be my travel companion as she seems to like hitting places like that … well I remember a post something like that anyway. You could come too!

  10. Okay I love that photo!!! I love doing things like that and that painting is worth a new name!

Ah..off the top of my head….I want to travel Europe. A world tour like they used to do or whatever, I want to go to Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy maybe Greece, possibly Rome and maybe finish with some islands?

    Like

    1. alright… I would love to travel all those places I would love to travel to anywhere actually… well just about…. that photo was fun to do…. and the painting deserves a better place than my grubby hovel and a new name I suspect….Thanks for the help with the question!

  11. So many things I would want to do and haven’t or haven’t done successfully. I have tried learning piano, and have given up more than once. I have tried and not done well, to learn to dance. I kept looking at my feet. Don’t do that. I would love to get in a large van and just travel wherever the wind blows.. but I feel tied down. I would love to be a painter, but every attempt has not been great. I would love to be a photographer. hmmmm, maybe that is my next project?

    1. I definitely need to get to painting more… I havent done it well in quite some time… I have to put in some effort. Thanks for this answer… it was really helpful!

  12. I gave up both piano and dance lessons when I was very young. I often wish I had kept at both.
I have to get into SSS again…I all but gave up on my blog the last three weeks.
I am sorry you’ve been having a rough time the last few months. I think of you often and you know you can ping me anytime of the day or night. I’m probably awake, as you well know. XO

  13. Lovely pictures, and it’s always so wonderful to have family come and visit. One thing on my bucket list is to go to Ireland to walk in the footsteps of my ancestors. 😊
